Academic Philosophy

• At Legacy Academy, we  believe our task is set forth in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” We desire for each of its students to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and recognize the spiritual walk of a child is of utmost importance.

A child’s education is a partnership between the home, the church, and the school, with each playing a vital role in the upbringing of the child. For this partnership to be effective, it is necessary for parents to live and model Christian lives. We ask that parents and staff always be conscious of their critical role of instilling Christian principles into each student’s life.

Legacy Academy recognizes that education is a lifelong process. We encourage each of our students to seek higher educational opportunities after completing high school. At Legacy Academy, we prepare students to achieve academic excellence by providing a learning environment with a Christ-centered perspective. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity (1 Timothy 4:12).”

In partnering with the child’s family it is our role to prepare, train, and equip students with the spiritual, academic, emotional, physical, and social tools to make a difference for God throughout their lives. Open channels of communication and involvement are extremely important for the overall well-being of the student.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 states, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” As a discipleship school, we seek to build on the foundation of Jesus Christ and instill in students the ability to defend their faith, as well as their Lord, when called upon to do so. We acknowledge that Christian parents desire their children to be firmly grounded in God’s Word. Therefore, we require each family to be regularly attending members of a Bible-believing church. Every subject will be taught with the consciousness that all truth is God’s truth and that Jesus Christ is central to all learning and living. The ultimate goal is that students grow in their relationship with Jesus and become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).

Legacy Academy seeks parents who share the same values, enthusiasm, and love for learning and Jesus Christ that we do. We ask that if you wish to call Legacy Academy your child’s school, you support us fully in our beliefs, discipline, day-to-day practices, and procedures. We believe the only way to educate children successfully is to partner with parents. If any disharmony exists between the school and the parent(s), the student's success is at risk. The attitudes of both the parents and the student should be one of positive and enthusiastic support.

Our Academics

Legacy Academy's primary instructional foundation is on the Bob Jones curriculum. Supplemental material is used as needed. We believe building a solid educational foundation while teaching the Bible is best. The curriculum integrates a Biblical foundation while providing a traditional education for students to learn necessary skills that are vital to further their education.  Bible class is held daily for all grades. Bible is taught using the Bob Jones curriculum and supplemental materials as needed. Legacy Academy uses the New Living Translation version of the Bible as the standard throughout all grades. Although teachers may use other versions to emphasize learning, it is essential to have a consistent version in classrooms for standardized class memorization and grading purposes.

Legacy Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS). ACTS provides educational standards that Legacy Academy is required to fulfill in order to provide a quality education for your child. Legacy Academy is required to undergo an annual review with ACTS to maintain our accreditation status.

Bible classes are held daily for all grades, using the Bob Jones curriculum and supplemental materials when appropriate. Legacy Academy uses the New Living Translation (NLT) as the standard Bible version across all grades for class memorization and grading consistency. While other translations may be used to enhance understanding, maintaining a consistent version ensures clarity in teaching and assessments.

Physical Education

In Psalm 139:14 it states, “I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This scripture is incorporated to teach students to perform physical activities to the best of their ability. Our goal is for the instruction to teach them to rejoice in who God created them to be and to safeguard the body (temple) with which God has blessed them. P.E. is designed to develop skills in each student that provide a basis for future skills and good habits. Another goal is to provide a positive learning environment and emphasize the joy and rewards of physical activity. It is designed to cultivate behaviors that last a lifetime.

Music

Music class is designed for students to understand basic music theory and develop a love for music to give praise and worship to God. Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Music class focuses on developing note-reading skills, aural skills, rhythmic patterns, intonation, and tonality. Emphasis is placed on having various musical experiences and learning foundational music skills to glorify God ultimately.

"Legacy Academy reflects the same loving values parents teach at home. The staff is helpful and caring, making our experience as parents nothing but great. Our daughters are learning more in-depth subjects than they would in public school, including the true history of America, while also understanding that God’s hand is in every aspect of life."

"We chose Legacy because we believe a Christian education is essential for the spiritual and educational formation of our children. We wanted to avoid secular influences that could undermine their faith during these formative years. Our children have had an incredible experience. Legacy has become an all-in-one solution for their church and school life, reinforcing both. They are happy, engaged, and excited to attend. They’re learning vital truths about God and His creation, and they are surrounded by friends and teachers who share our faith and values."
