Position Overview

Legacy Academy is seeking a dependable and safety-minded CDL School Bus Driver to provide daily transportation for students to and from school and to athletic events and other school-related activities. This role plays a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our school and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students during transit.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate a school bus along designated morning and afternoon routes
Transport students to extracurricular events, including athletic games and school activities
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure safe operation
Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment
Adhere to all traffic laws, safety guidelines, and Legacy Academy transportation policies
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents in a courteous and professional manner
Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to the Fleet Manager or Operations Director
Qualifications

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
Clean driving record and strong safety record
Previous school bus driving experience preferred
Strong commitment to punctuality and reliability
Ability to manage student behavior calmly and respectfully while maintaining a safe environment
Must pass a background check and drug screening
Work Schedule

Morning Route: Approximately 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
Afternoon Route: Approximately 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Event Transportation: Additional hours as scheduled for sporting events and activities (mostly afternoons/evenings, occasional weekends)

Position Summary:

Legacy Academy seeks a dedicated and mission-driven High School Advisor to support the spiritual, academic, and post-secondary success of high school students. The advisor will develop and oversee a Christ-centered, NMPED-compliant high school program while guiding students and their families through academic planning, college and career readiness, and post-secondary transitions. This position is instrumental in ensuring students are equipped to graduate with the skills, knowledge, and faith foundation necessary for success in college, career, and life.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development:

  • Design and implement a Christ-centered high school advising program in alignment with New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) standards and Legacy Academy’s mission.  
  • Create the high school class schedule each school year.
  • Research and communicate elective course offerings.
  • Create and maintain alumni records.
  • Create and maintain statistical records regarding exam scores, college attendance, etc.
  • Other duties as needed.  

Academic and Career Advising:

  • Ensure Legacy Academy maintains NCAA status
  • Organize and plan commencement exercises for graduation
  • Research and maintain regular communication with NMPED regarding graduation, attendance and other requirements.
  • Provide individualized college and career counseling for students in grades 9–12. Advise students and families on course selection, high school graduation requirements, dual credit opportunities, and academic progression.
  • Guide students through career exploration, vocational opportunities, internships, and technical education options.  

College Readiness:

  • Support students in the college application process, including personal statements, letters of recommendation, and application timelines.
  • Advise on ACT, SAT, and other college entrance exams; organize testing schedules and preparation resources.
  • Coordinate all aspects of on-site PSAT exams.
  • Provide guidance in completing financial aid forms (FAFSA, scholarship applications) and ensure adherence to all post-secondary deadlines.  

Vocational, Trade, and Workforce Readiness:

  • Guide students exploring alternatives to college, including trade schools, apprenticeships, certifications, entrepreneurship, military service, and direct entry into the workforce.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local trade programs, unions, technical schools, and workforce development organizations.
  • Provide resources and assistance in researching vocational programs, submitting applications, and understanding program prerequisites and certifications.
  • Organize visits to job training centers, vocational fairs, and industry-specific opportunities.
  • Support students in developing practical career skills such as resume writing, interviewing, workplace ethics, and professional communication. 
  • Coordinate job shadowing, mentorships, and internships aligned with students’ vocational interests.
  • Facilitate connections with Christian professionals in vocational fields who can offer guidance and mentoring.  

Student Success Monitoring:

  • Monitor student academic performance and attendance, and ensure all students are on track to meet graduation requirements.
  • Partner with teachers and administrators to identify and address academic and behavioral barriers to success.
  • Maintain student advising records and documentation of progress toward academic and career goals.
  • Create, maintain, monitor, and communicate community service hour expectations and tracking.   

Family Engagement:

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and opportunities.
  • Host informational sessions and workshops related to college and career planning, financial aid, and testing.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 2 years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or high school education.
  • Strong knowledge of NMPED graduation requirements, dual credit programs, and college admissions processes.
  • Commitment to Christian education and ability to integrate Biblical principles into guidance and instruction.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to create presentations, spreadsheets, QR codes, and GroupMe communication threads, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and staff in a faith-based environment.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a Christian or private school setting. 
  • Familiarity with scholarship databases, college search tools, and FAFSA/financial aid platforms.
  •  Proficiency in student information systems and college/career readiness platforms   

Work Environment:

  • Full-time, on-campus role with occasional evening or weekend hours for events, college fairs, or testing days.
  • Collaborative and mission-focused school community.

Primary

  • Proficiently working in Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
  • Great people skills.
  • Detail oriented — ability to see all the details of a project and see that they are followed through on.
  • Answering and returning all phone calls, emails, and texts within 24 hours.

 General Duties

  • Maintain Outlook and assist direct reports.
  • Schedule trainings, create task lists and badges, distribute shirts for volunteers, ordering and maintaining inventory and monthly budgets.
  • Request forms: Purchase Requests, Graphics Requests, Facility Requests, Maintenance Requests, Video Announcement Requests.
  • Organize, schedule & coordinate events.
  • Follow the policies and procedures as defined in Legacy Church Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Working Conditions and Physical Effort  
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Education and Experience

High school diploma is a must, however, a college degree is an added advantage
Computer competent and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of standard office equipment.
Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping
Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management
