Employment

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• Plan, prepare, and cook meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and food safety standards. 

• Portion and serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner. 

• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment. 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining, storage, and food preparation areas. 

• Operate and care for commercial kitchen equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. 

• Follow all local health department regulations and food handling procedures. 

• Monitor food quality, proper temperatures, and safe food storage practices. 

• Support a positive dining environment by providing courteous service to students and staff. 

Secondary Responsibilities 

• Monitor and maintain inventory of food, beverages, and kitchen supplies. 

• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and organizing food and kitchen supplies. 

• Help reduce food waste through proper inventory rotation (FIFO) and portion control. 

• Work collaboratively with school staff to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies, as applicable. 

• Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a commercial kitchen, school cafeteria, restaurant, or related food service environment preferred. 

• Current Food Handler or Food Safety Certification, or the ability to obtain certification before handling food. 

• Knowledge of safe food preparation, sanitation, and basic nutrition principles. 

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. 

• Basic computer proficiency for inventory, communication, or recordkeeping. 

• Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team. 

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment. 

• Willingness to prepare and cook a variety of meals and menu items. 

• Flexibility and willingness to assist with additional responsibilities as needed. 

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 

• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. 

• Ability to work safely in environments with hot equipment, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals while following established safety procedures.
