ELEMENTARY NEWSLETTER

Legacy Academy Families,

It has truly been a great week at Legacy Academy, and we want to take a moment to thank you for helping make it so meaningful.

We are incredibly grateful for your generosity during Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Because of your donations and support, we were honored to welcome the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) to our elementary campus. Our students experienced an unforgettable, hands-on learning opportunity as officers brought several units, including their canine unit, BearCat vehicle, and even a special helicopter appearance.

Through this experience, our students learned valuable lessons about safety, service, and community. We were also blessed to give back by providing the officers with coffee, donuts, and prayer, reminding them how much they are appreciated.

As we continue this strong momentum, we want to thank parents for partnering with us in supporting academic excellence. Daily learning begins the moment students arrive on campus, and being on time is essential to setting the tone for a successful day. Your commitment to punctuality helps ensure students are fully engaged and ready to learn.

Thank you for your continued partnership, generosity, and dedication to your children’s academic, spiritual, and social growth. Weeks like this remind us how special the Legacy Academy community truly is.

Meet our newest staff members and learn more about them!

My name is Brandy Hernandez, I’m excited to finally introduce myself to each of you. I have had the amazing opportunity of teaching students from Kindergarten through Fifth grade. My passion is to help children learn, grow, and succeed not only in their education studies but as an individual as well. During my time in Kindergarten is where I found my passion and love for teaching. My teacher Mrs. Brooks was a wonderful influence in my life in just a short year. Watching her love for teaching and they way she engaged with each of her students was a great example to me.

I have had the privilege of homeschooling my own children for nine years, which has increased my desire to become a teacher. God opened the doors with an opportunity to teach in a small Christian School. I taught for three years in California before moving back here to New Mexico. During those three years, my love for teaching and nurturing students grew tremendously. As a teacher, you witness the struggles students face on a daily basis, from reading to writing, and comprehending the work. My desire and job are to guide and help them in every way so they will improve and be able to succeed in life.

I have been married for twenty- three years. The Lord blessed us with four wonderful children, three boys and one girl as well as an amazing granddaughter. All my children are grown adults; my oldest works for Los Lunas public school’s transportation as well as has been blessed with producing three single gospel songs out of Nashville TN. Our daughter works here in Albuquerque, is a wonderful mother to our granddaughter, and serves on the photography team here at Legacy. Our third oldest also attends Legacy and resides here in Albuquerque. Finally, our youngest is in the process of joining the military and also attends Legacy with us. I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family, going to the movies, and catching a Yankees game close by. In my spare time I love crocheting and challenging myself with new difficult patterns.

Awards given to students for being an example of being like Jesus.
