ELEMENTARY NEWSLETTER
Legacy Academy Elementary Families,
We're four weeks into the school year, and the momentum keeps growing. Routines are steady, and students are settling into their classrooms. Thank you for everything you're doing to support smooth mornings, homework time, and everything in between!
As we move along in the year, on-time arrival continues to make a big difference. The first few minutes of class are often when teachers set the plan for the day and get everyone oriented. Thank you for helping your child walk through our doors on time each day. It's one of the simplest ways to set them up for success!
Learning doesn't stop at the classroom door-a few small habits at home can make a real difference. Here are some easy ways to reinforce what your child is learning this week:
Ask specific questions, not just "how was school?" Try "What's one thing you learned today that surprised you?" or "What book are you reading right now?" Specific questions get specific-and more interesting-answers.
Read together, even for just 10 minutes. Whether you read aloud, listen to them read, or read side-by-side, this simple routine builds vocabulary, comprehension, and a lifelong love of books.
Connect learning to everyday life. Practicing math? Have them help calculate a grocery total. Learning about weather? Talk about tonight's forecast together. Real-world connections make lessons stick.
Create a consistent homework spot and time. Kids do best with a predictable routine -same place, same time, minimal distractions.
Praise effort over outcome. "I can tell you worked hard on that" builds resilience and motivation more than "you're so smart."
Keep it low-pressure. A few minutes of genuine engagement each night goes further than a long, stressful session. Little and often wins.
Also, as a reminder, progress reports will go out on Monday. These reports will give you a snapshot of your student's current grades and performance so far this semester. Please take a few minutes to review the report with your student and reach out to your child's teacher with any questions or concerns. If you notice any areas where your student may need extra support, now is a great time to connect with teachers before the end of the grading period.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your student's education. We wouldn’t have the success we do without you!
Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!
