The Legacy Academy National Honor Society (NHS) is a premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students complete a variety of academic and leadership-based service projects over the course of the school year. To become eligible, students must maintain a 3.75 GPA (and continue to do so once admitted) for 3 concurrent semesters in high school and complete an application process. Candidates are evaluated by a staff selection committee and are notified of their acceptance in the spring semester, then inducted annually in mid-April.
Being a member of the Legacy Academy High School Student Council is a unique opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, advocate for their peers, and make a lasting impact on our school culture. Members are responsible forhelping with key events such as Balloon Aloft, Homecoming, Prom, Spirit Week, Pep Rally, and Senior Send-Off, as well as supporting the community and Legacy Church through various charitable activities, while serving as the primary liaison between the student body and administration. Members can attend the New Mexico Association of Student Council’s District Conference in October and State Conference in February. Student Council General Membership meets weekly during lunch. Members have the opportunity to earn a letter and/or graduation cord through service. To be eligible for membership, students must meet specific academic and behavioral standards, including a minimum GPA of 2.8. Elections for Council officers are held every April, and an in-house leadership workshop occurs in July.
